Keeping active and healthy

We offer a wide range of sports, activities and advice on eating healthy while at University.

There are many sports programmes, as well as different sports teams and societies within our Students Union.

With a ResFit membership, you get a discounted gym membership (£70 for the academic year) at the Armitage Centre, which is exclusive to residents.

The University also runs the Sporticipate programme, which offers free one-off and regular beginner sports classes and events.

Eating healthy

There are lots of ways you can incorporate healthy eating into your University routine, such as:

  • if you’re staying in catered accommodation, a variety of healthy meals will already be made for you;
  • try out new meals with your flatmates using our ResLife Recipes booklet, which is full of easy-budget meals;
  • cook sustainably and get tips on food shopping with MyFood;
  • special diets and lifestyles.

You’ll be able to find places near where you live, and in or around campus, that cater for most special dietary or lifestyle requirements.

Our catered halls also run Meat Free Mondays and always have vegetarian options available, speak to a member of the catering team for more information.

There’s a whole host of vegan eateries around Oxford Road, including:
