Donation points
When moving out of halls, you may have items you can’t, or no longer want to, take with you. You can find donation points across our halls and the wider city below.
Food items
There are several charities that you can donate to, such as Manchester Central Foodbank, for donations of tins or packets (unopened and non-perishable). These can be given using donation bins located at the following reception areas:
- City campus: Whitworth Park (Grove House) and George Kenyon Hall reception.
- Victoria Park: Hulme Hall reception and Dalton Ellis reception.
- Fallowfield campus: main reception.
British Heart Foundation donation points
These bins are avaliable through the year.
The British Heart Foundation accepts donations of clothes, shoes, books, handbags, DVDs, small electrical appliances, furniture, pots, pans, and crockery. The bins in our halls hold these donations.

Give It Don't Bin It
Give It Don't Bin It runs from the end of May, when many of our contracts come to an end. You can donate various items, including clothing, kitchen items (no knives) or larger furniture. Place any clean, unwanted items in the containers marked ‘Give It Don’t Bin It’ across campus from the end of May.

Charity donations
There are many charity shops across Manchester, below are a few which accept a variety of items or are close to halls.
Donation bags
Many charities offer donation bags through the post. All you need to do is order a bag, fill it up and then post it back.
Selling your stuff
You can also sell your stuff through various platforms to ensure it gets a second lease of life. Below are a couple of places you can get rid of your unwanted items.
